GSI Commerce, which provides e-commerce, multichannel retailing and interactive marketing for large, business-to-consumer enterprises, generated just over $1 billion in 2009, up from $966.9 million in 2008. The company trimmed its net loss from just under $23 million in 2008 to $11 million.
The company’s fourth quarter saw revenue growth of nearly $40 million, from $391.4 million to $430.2 million. Its net income for the quarter ticked up slightly, from $23.1 million to $23.6 million. The quarter and the year ended Jan. 2.
Most of the revenue growth came from its interactive marketing operations, as opposed to its e-commerce offerings. For the full year, interactive marketing revenue rose from $84.5 million to $127.6 million, while e-commerce servces revenue fell from $900 million to $879.6 million.
GSI’s e-commerce platform includes technology, fulfillment and customer care offerings available on a modular basis or as part of an integrated, end-to-end solution. Its interactive marketing services are made up of its TrueAction and e-Dialog units.
