Gardener’s Supply Acquires Majority Ownership of Dutch Gardens

Gardener’s Supply Company has acquired a majority stake in the Dutch Gardens catalog.

Gardener’s Supply will operate the catalog as a joint venture with International Garden Products, the parent of Dutch Gardens.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Leo Vanderlugt has been named president of Dutch Gardens. Most recently, he was the director of merchandising and general manager of Breck’s Bulbs

Gardener’s Supply, established in 1983, is an employee-owned catalog and Internet direct marketer of gardening accessories. Dutch Gardens, founded in 1965, sells flowering Dutch bulbs and perennials.

Burlington, VT-based Gardener’s Supply is a $50 million firm with 250 employees.

IGP is expected to support the joint venture with flowering bulbs from Holland.
