Paris telemarketing company SR Teleperformance must reinstate a Muslim woman it fired in July for wearing a headscarf, a court ruled.
The firm must pay Algerian-born Dallila Tahri the wages she had missed since she was terminated and was fined about $1,000 dollars for unfair dismissal, according to wire service reports.
Tahri, who has worn a veil over her forehead, neck and ears for eight years, was dismissed from her telephone polling job after refusing her bosses’ demands to reveal her face and neck, the report said.
She argued that her religion prevented her from doing so.
