Fourth Quarter Net Sales Up 37% for Bluefly.com

Internet fashion outlet Bluefly, Inc. reported net sales of $7.9 million for the fourth quarter of 2001, a 37% increase from $5.7 million for the same period in 2000.

The New York-based company’s new customer acquisition cost for the quarter decreased by over 62% to an all-time low of $18.53 from $49.53. Bluefly acquired over 31,000 new customers in the fourth quarter of 2001, with an advertising budget approximately 69% smaller than in the same period of 2000. Repeat customers accounted for approximately 63% of gross sales, up from about 50%; and the average order size increased over 20% to $155.54 from $128.89.

For the year, net sales increased over 31%, to $22.9 million in 2001 from $17.5 million in 2000.
