Nintendo of America has named former Yahoo Chief Marketing Officer Cammie Dunaway as executive vice president of sales and marketing. The post takes effect Nov. 5.
In her new role, Dunaway will be in charge of all sales and marketing activities for Nintendo in the U.S., Canada and Latin America. She will fill the position that has been vacant since May 2006 when Reggie Fils-Aime was promoted to president and chief operating officer at Nintendo of America.
Dunway left her job as chief marketing officer of Yahoo to join Nintendo, a post she held for the last four years (Promo Xtra, Oct. 23, 2007).

There, she was in charge of leading Yahoo’s worldwide branding efforts and driving the company’s product-marketing initiatives. Prior to that, she worked 13 years at Frito-Lay with responsibility for brands including Doritos and Lay’s.
“Cammie Dunaway is the perfect choice to drive the next phase of Nintendo’s business,” Fils-Aime said in a statement. “She is a tremendous leader and will help continue momentum behind both Wii and Nintendo DS.”
Dunaway’s hiring comes as Nintendo looks to fill other soon-to-be vacant marketing posts. Robert Matthews, the senior director of consumer marketing, said in an internal e-mail to friends and family this week he plans to leave the company in December to explore new opportunities (Promo Xtra Oct. 22, 2007).

In September, George Harrison, the U.S.-based chief marketing officer for Nintendo, said he would depart after working 15 years for Nintendo, in December.
In addition to Dunaway, Nintendo also named Shigeyuki Takahashi as executive vice
president, special assignment. In his new position, Takahashi will conduct special research activities to enhance the sales and marketing department, the company said. He also will support help with Nintendo’s future business expansion plans.
The position takes effect Nov. 1.
Takahashi, who joined Nintendo in 2006, works as the president of Nintendo Research Inc., where he oversees research activities for Nintendo’s future business expansion in North America.
Both Dunaway and Takahashi will work in Nintendo’s Redwood Shores, CA, offices.
