Fingerhut Cos. Inc., the Minnetonka, MN-based direct marketer yesterday began mailing a full Spanish-language catalog in the Chicago area. With a picture of Chicago Cubs star Sammy Sosa on the cover, the Fingerhut En Espanol catalog offers jewelry, housewares, clothing and electronics.
A multi-media advertising campaign follows the launch and includes ads in Spanish-language newspapers, television and radio stations, and outdoor and metro transit ads.
More than 18 different Spanish-language catalogs are planned for 2000. To handle the growth, Fingerhut has added more bilingual service representatives with a new call center in Tucson, AZ, and more staff at its Tampa, FL, facility.
