FedEx is embracing social commerce a little bit more with its Ship to Friends Facebook app. The app enables U.S.-based users to prepare and pay for a FedEx shipment within leaving Facebook’s site. When the app is launched, users just have to click the “Start shipping” button. This will show the user a request for permission to access account information. The subsequent steps are essentially the same basic steps a customer would take to ship a shipment from a website. Once all the shipment and payment information is entered and processed, the user has to drop the package off at their nearest FedEx location. Using the app will alert the recipient of the package on their Facebook Timeline. (The Next Web, CNET News)
