Brown Shoe Co., Inc. has named Willie A. Smith as senior vice president of marketing for its Famous Footwear brand.
In his new role, Smith will be in charge of managing all marketing functions and directing the strategic development of the brand.
Previously, Smith was the chief marketing officer of athletics for retailer Steve & Barry’s, where he oversaw brand development and marketing for product launches, including Venus Williams’ “Eleven,” Stephon Marbury’s “Starbury” and Ben Wallace’s “Big Ben” product line. Prior to that, he worked as group vice president of marketing for Liz Claiborne’s retail division and vice president of marketing for the firm’s outlet division.
In other news, Famous Footwear tapped Campbell Mithun to handle its creative and branding duties. The agency will be in charge of the firm’s national advertising and consumer imagery, as well as contribute to various marketing and consumer relationship-building programs
The first campaign work from Campbell Mithun is slated to debut later this year. Its clients include Burger King, H&R Block and General Mills. The agency replaced Hiebing, which previously worked on the brand.
