Internet service provider and media company Excite@Home Corp. will cut 13% of its staff, or 380 workers, marking the second round of layoffs.
The layoffs come as the company struggles to cut costs and offset the drain created by its Excite.com site and other media assets amid the sharp decline in advertising spending, the company said.
The cuts are expected across the board with a slightly higher emphasis on the media business.
The Redwood City, CA-based company, which is controlled by AT&T Corp., will employ about 2,470 people after the cuts. In January, the company cut 8% of its staff, or 250 jobs.
Last week, Excite@Home posted a steep first-quarter loss and said it would likely report a wider-than-expected second-quarter loss.
Its media assets include the Excite.com Internet media network as well as its online greeting card service, Blue Mountain Arts.
