eHealth Reports 27% Increase in Health Insurance Revenue

Online health insurance marketer eHealth Inc. reported $111.7 million in revenues for the fiscal year that ended Dec. 31, a 27% increase, compared to the previous year.

It reported $29.5 million in fourth quarter revenues, up 22% compared to the $24.2 million it reported in the fourth quarter of 2007.

The company operates eHealthInsurance Services Inc., which sells health insurance policies nationwide, exclusively online, through partnerships with more than 175 health insurance companies.

An estimated 621,110 individuals, families and small businesses joined as members of eHealthInsurance in 2008, an increase of 20% over the 518,400 members it had in 2007.

A total of 115,600 online applications for insurance were received by the company in during the fourth quarter of 2008, reflecting a 22% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2007.

More than 1 million health insurance policies have been issued through eHealthInsurance since 1998. Based in Mountain View, CA, the company maintains a customer service call center in Gold River, CA.
