Egghead.com, an online marketer of technology and related products, had annual revenue of $478.8 million in 2000, down from $541.2 million in 1999. But the company also cut its net loss from $154.9 million in 1999 to $62.2 million in fiscal 2000, which ended Dec. 31.
Despite softening consumer demand for computers, the Menlo Park, CA-based company capitalized on growth in its business-to-business sales. At the end of the quarter, the company had approximately 22,000 business accounts assigned to sales representatives, and business customers requesting its online open account services rose 33%, to 6,300.
During the fourth quarter, Egghead.com saw an 8% uptick in unique buyers, to 248,000, and new buyers rose 16%, to 136,000.
