European post offices may have trouble justifying their mail monopolies if they continue buying up commercial operations in other countries, according to wire service reports.
John Temple Lang, director of information, communications and multimedia in the Commission’s competition division, questioned the effects recent acquisitions of parcel and express companies by the German, French, British and Dutch post offices would have on open competition.
