EarthLink Wins $11 Million Spam Judgment

A federal judge in Atlanta has awarded EarthLink an $11 million judgment against Nevada Internet marketing company KSTM, LLC for allegedly sending unsolicited e-mail violating the Can Spam Act through EarthLink’s servers, the Internet service provider said Wednesday.

KSTM sent millions of mortgage-related e-mails touting the Web site “lmlgdnhk.info” and violated the Can Spam Act by using false and misleading header information, according to EarthLink.

The decision bars KSTM from falsifying the “from” field in its mailings, hiding the identity of the sender, selling e-mail addresses and accessing EarthLink accounts, according to EarthLink.

Since 1996, EarthLink has sued hundreds of spammers and won more than $200 million in judgments and two criminal convictions resulting in prison time, the company said in a statement.
