Dorgan Lands at Tap.TV

Tim Dorgan has joined Tap.TV as President-COO of the fledgling media company, after resigning his post as CEO of The J. Brown Agency earlier this month.

Tap.TV puts targeted ads on TV sets in bars and restaurants. The company, formed last year by Information Resources Inc. founder John Malec, is testing Tap.TV in a few bars in Chicago, with plans to roll out the system later this year.

Burr Ridge, IL-based Tap.TV uses set-top boxes that insert local ads, and interactive games, to replace the national TV spots that air during networks’ advertising pods. The narrowcast ads are measured and priced similar to direct marketing vehicles.

Tap.TV has a staff of about 10, mostly technicians. Adding Dorgan “is a major step in our company’s development,” said CEO Malec in a statement. “His deep experience in the integrated marketing services business will be a key asset as we bring the benefits of TAP.TV to America’s leading advertisers.”
