Domino’s Pairs with Domino Championship

Domino’s Pizza is delivering as the title sponsor of the first-ever California State Domino Championship. The pizza maker is activating with tournament signage, a hospitality suite and pizza-related prizes and trips for tournament winners.

The tournament runs from Sept. 22-23 at the Fairplex Park Grandstand at the Los Angeles County Fair. As part of its sponsorship, Domino’s will host a media and hospitality suite at the Sheraton Suites Fairplex in Pomona, CA. In the suite, members of the media and the 200 domino participants will get Domino’s Pizza, Brownie Squares (PROMO Xtra Aug. 22, 2006) and the opportunity to see and enjoy Domino’s Man Cave Couch. The couch is outfitted with a hot bag system to keep pizzas warm, a mini refrigerator, three paper towel headrests, two flat screen TVs on swing arms, an Xbox, MP3 player and built in car stereo speakers among other accessories.

First-place winners of the doubles and singles tournament will receive $500 in Domino’s Pizza gift certificates and a Domino’s prize pack, trophy and a seven-day/six-night Las Vegas vacation including limo transportation, airfare, hotel and meals. Second place winners will receive $200 in Domino’s Pizza gift certificates, a Domino’s prize pack, trophy and a $350 betting voucher to use for the horse races at the fair. Raffle ticket winners will receive an all expense paid weekend get-away to Palm Springs, CA. All players will receive a gift basket, raffle ticket and $10 voucher redeemable at the horse races.

Domino’s will also activate with pizza signage throughout the Fairplex Park Grandstand including on posters, banners and on playing tables. Its logo will be engraved on all the players’ dominoes.

Celebrity domino tournament participants include Antwon Tanner (from the motion picture Coach Carter), Ken Lawson (from the former UPN show The Parkers), Travis Newsome (three-time World Domino Champion) and Jay King (Commissioner, Professional Domino Association).
