The Walt Disney Studios are launching an interactive, educational tour for its high-definition home entertainment Blu-ray technology.
Disney’s Magical Blu-ray Tour, which kicks off Aug. 17, will offer kiosks and viewing stations. A mini theater features hourly presentations displaying the technology.
During the tour, previews of Disney/Pixar’s “cars” and Disney’s “Meet the Robinsons” will be shown. In addition, live demonstrates illustrate how to play the “Liar’s Dice” game from “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.”
The tour begins in Westfield Topanga Mall in Canoga Park, CA.
“Our goal is to reach as many people as possible and to help educate the consumers across all demographics,” Bob Chapek, president of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, in a statement. “Our presentations and demo areas will hold something of interest for everyone.”
The tour, sponsored by Panasonic, will offer six to 14 different interactive stations. As part of its sponsorship, Disney will display its images on Panasonic plasma TVs.
A sweepstakes overlay in each market offers the chance to win a Blu-ray home entertainment package and Disney Blu-ray discs.
Stops include San Diego, CA, San Francisco, CA, Seattle, WA, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta and Phoenix. The final stop is at Chandler Fashion Center in Chandler, AZ Dec. 21-23.
Mall signage will support the tour.
