In what may be a first, a direct response television campaign promoting psychotherapy is being launched in the San Francisco Bay area, complete with the toll free number 888-99-Therapy.
Individuals who respond will be referred to local therapists licensed to prescribe drugs for anxiety and depression, which are advertised nationwide by pharmaceutical companies. A new company Therapy Referrals, based in South Francisco is behind the campaign.
