Direct Media Third-Quarter Growth Lags Other Acxiom Units

Acxiom Corp., the Little Rock, AR-based information products and services provider, had a third-quarter revenue growth of 26%, to $244 million from $193 million a year ago. Income from operations was up 78%, from $26 million to $46.4 million. The quarter ended Dec. 31.

Acxiom’s data products sector grew 33%, but within this sector its Direct Media unit grew by only 3% over the levels posted in third-quarter 1998, while InfoBase and DataQuick grew by a combined 50%. Acxiom has signed an agreement to sell 51% of its Direct Media operations to the management of Direct Media.

Among Acxiom’s other sectors, the financial services division had a 38% year-over-year increase, the international division jumped 34%, data products was up 33%, and I.T. management was up 10%.
