Diamond Foods has hired Andrew Burke as VP-marketing for the nut and snacks company.
Burke, who joins Stockton, CA-based Diamond on June 19, has been VP-marketing at Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery and earlier spent seven years at Kraft Foods, working on brands including Jell-O, Altoids and LifeSavers. He replaces Sandra McBride, who retired.
Burke is the second sales and marketing exec to join Diamond this spring. In April, Diamond hired Mike Cooke as senior VP-North American retail sales; he had been VP-sales for PepsiCo’s western division, and earlier spent 20 years at Quaker Oats Co. until PepsiCo’s 2001 merger with Quaker Oats. Burke replaces Sandra McBride, who has retired.
Diamond’s sales hit $370.0 million for the nine months ended April 30, up 1.4% from the same period a year ago. The company expects its retail sales will rise 18% for fiscal 2006, helped in part by Diamond’s May acquisition of Harmony Foods Corp. assets, including a snack-processing plant, and by expanded distribution of Emerald brand SKUs.
