For years, the American Automobile Association assigned diamond ratings to restaurants and hospitality properties as a service to its members. In January, as a service to its bottom line, AAA Mid-Atlantic began giving diamond rankings to customers.
A five-diamond customer is one who knows that AAA’s offerings stretch beyond emergency road service, TripTik route planning and maps. Individuals who carry insurance, hold an affiliated credit card, have taken out an auto loan through the association or use their membership to obtain discounts at movies and theme parks are likely to be counted in that category.
