Kids can now get phone calls on their home or wireless phone from TV characters SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer by way of a partnership between Nickelodeon and UVOX, a telephony broadcasting network. The offer, Nickelodeon Calls You, will be available on Nickelodeon’s Web sites, Nick.com and NickJr.com, and will let kids connect with the TV characters. The service will be promoted on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. throughout May. “Our audiences can now book a phone call from Dora and SpongeBob,” Mike Skagerlind, senior VP-general manager, Nickelodeon Online, said in a statement. “That’s a new level of digital interaction and another piece in our strategy of offering kids new ways to play with our characters and our brand.” Nickelodeon Calls You offers an array of pre-recorded voice message categories, call scheduling options and personalized greetings from Nick characters. The time, date and location of the call can be specified for either the same day or up to one year in advance.
