Destiny’s Child will perform this fall for the Pepsi Play for a Billion TV game show.
One song from the group’s first performance in nearly two years this summer in Los Angeles will air exclusively on the Pepsi show set for Sept. 12. The group will be entertaining with new songs from their upcoming sixth album scheduled for release in November.
Destiny’s Child is featured on P-O-P materials for the Play for a Billion sweepstakes in stores across the country.
“The Pepsi Play for a Billion show is a great place to share our new music with the millions of viewers who will tune-in to see if someone wins that billion dollar prize,” Beyonce Knowles of Destiny’s Child, said in a statement.
The final event, airing Sept. 12 at 8 pm on ABC, will be hosted by Damon Wayans, the star of ABC’s hit comedy series, My Wife & Kids.
The promotion, in partnership with ABC-TV, guarantees that one finalist will take home $1 million on national TV, with the chance to walk away with an additional $1 billion. The promotion began earlier this month.
Entry codes appear on specially marked bottles and cans of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi and Sierra Mist. Participants enter the codes at BillionSweeps.com.
Last fall, in Pepsi’s first Play for a Billion sweepstakes, a West Virginia teacher missed the $1 billion prize, but took home $1 million. Kendall the chimp stole the show as he drew the six winning numbers during a two-hour special that aired live on The WB Network to ensure there were no thoughts that the game was rigged. No word on whether the primate will make a return appearance this year.
