Del Monte Foods this week unveiled Carb Clever low-carb canned fruit.
The line—with 50% to 70% fewer carbs than regular canned fruit—targets low-carb eaters who have cut fruit from their diet. The five-item line is packed in water (rather than syrup) and sweetened with Splenda. Varieties are peaches (in 8.25-oz. and 14.5-oz. cans), fruit cocktail, sliced pears and pear chunks (all in 14.5-oz. cans).
The line ships to supermarkets and Wal-Mart Supercenters this month. Marketing support is focused on co-marketing and in-store activities, FSIs and p.r.
