Creative Direct Response Acquires The Canterbury Group

Creative Direct Response, Inc. (CDR) will acquire The Canterbury Group. The two direct mail agencies will be formally merged on Jan. 1. The terms of the merger, which included a payout arrangement for Canterbury founder Kristine Kirby Webster, were not disclosed.

Kirby Webster, along with creative director Robert Allen and account executive Michael Genecki will move to CDR’s Crofton, MD headquarters from their current Alexandria, VA location.

Canterbury Group’s two clients, the National Humane Education Society and the Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind, have already inked contracts with CDR. The two clients will be among CDR’s largest — they mail between 5 and 7 million pieces annually, compared with the 75 million efforts sent out by the rest of CDR’s clients, Ray Grace, CDR’s president said.
