Content Marketing: The 10+ Things Marketers Must Not Do

Content marketing is a hot buzzword nowadays, and rightfully so.

It’s a potentially effective tool that can help establish your company as a trusted leader in your industry, educate consumers, build lasting relationships and drive sales, among other things. That said, it’s wise for marketers to stop and learn about the possible pitfalls before hopping into this new toy and pushing the pedal to the metal.

In a previous post we covered the “do’s” of content marketing. Today we’ll move on to discuss the “don’ts” of content marketing.

1) Be boring: There might not be a bigger don’t than this, according to Andi Vance, director at Mulberry Marketing Communications. “Don’t make your content a snooze to read,” she says. “Make the content personal, informative, fun and engaging. Even if you’re writing about digital semiconductors, you can present the detail with ‘Top 10’ lists, sidebars, humorous quotes, etc., to keep it upbeat and lively for the readers.”
