Coca-Cola Virtual Gifts Trigger Peek at Super Bowl Ads

Coca-Cola, which recently landed the top spot in the first annual ranking of the top 50 companies making the best use of Facebook, is at it again. This time the brand is using its social site to offer a sneak peek at its Super Bowl commercials while at the same time supporting the Boys & Girls Club of America.

Facebook fans who go online and share a “virtual gift” with others trigger three events: a $1 donation to the Boys & Girls Club of America; the recipient receives an image of a Coca-Cola bottle to be displayed on their Facebook page to remind others to share virtual gifts; and gift givers receive a 20-second sneak preview of one of the two new Super Bowl ads.

On Game Day this Sunday, all gifters will receive and be able to view both Super Bowl spots in their entirety before they air during the game that evening.

As part of the effort to support the Boys and Girls Club, two animated billboards will air during the Super Bowl and encourage viewers to visit, where they can learn how to help Coca-Cola support the club.

The Facebook promotion is part of Coca-Cola’s larger “Open Happiness” campaign.
