He’s big, he’s red, and Bil-Jac Foods would have us believe he loves peanut butter and jelly.
Under a new licensing deal with Scholastic Entertainment, Clifford the Big Red Dog will be featured this summer on packaging and in promotions for Bil-Jac’s moist pet treats, Tummy Teasers.
This marks the first licensing agreement in Bil-Jac Foods’ 58-year history, as well as Clifford’s first pet-food license. Terms were not disclosed. The Clifford Tummy Teasers will first be available to consumers at pet specialty stores.
“We’re really excited to combine our proprietary nutrition-protection process with Scholastic’s beloved Clifford character and introduce Clifford The Big Red Dog line of Tummy Teasers,” said Bob Kelly, president of Bil-Jac Foods, in a statement.
Children first came to love Clifford in 1963, when books by Norman Bridwell were initially published. Many of those same titles are now published by Scholastic. The character also has a TV series on PBS Kids; in 2004, Clifford came to the big screen in Clifford’s Really Big Movie.”
