Chrysler has hit the big screen.
Adorned with a big red bow, the 2007 Chrysler Aspen plays the role of the ultimate Christmas present in the Twentieth Century Fox family holiday film Deck the Halls, which hits theaters Nov. 22.
The Aspen appears alongside Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito, who play neighbors who try to outdo each other in celebrating the season. DeVito, who portrays a car salesman, presents Broderick with the Aspen as a way of making amends for wreaking havoc on his neighbor’s holiday festivities. At first he declines the offer. Then, in one scene Broderick drives the SUV into town, parks the vehicle and sweeps his hand admiringly over the hood.
“Because the Chrysler Aspen is an all new nameplate, we were looking to raise name recognition and this movie was a perfect fit with the timing of the [Aspen] launch in the fall,” said Chrysler spokesperson Carrie McElwee.
The company chose Deck the Halls “because it falls in line with the target group for the vehicle,” she added. Meanwhile, to continue fueling awareness for the SUV, the Aspen was used to transport the cast of the movie to the premiere at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA on Nov. 12.
Chrysler is based in Auburn Hills, MI.
