ChoicePoint posted net income of $23.7 million for the fourth quarter, a 14% decline from net income of $27.7 million in the prior-year period.
The data firm reported revenue of $266.6 million for the quarter ended Dec. 31, an 8% increase over $248 million last year.
The Alpharetta, GA company attributed these results to not being able to sell off its marketing services segment last fall.
In early 2005, ChoicePoint acquired notoriety after it was discovered to have sold consumer information to scam artists. This led the Federal Trade Commission to fine the company $10 million and compel it to earmark $5 million for consumer redress (Direct Newsline, Jan. 26).
