CBcampus.com’s Job Site Tours Campuses

When looking for a job, college students will take all the help they can get. And thanks to a mobile tour launched this month to promote CBcampus.com, a new job site tailor-made for students and alumni, students have another resource to tap into.

During the tour, CareerBuilder.com—which powers the site—will take its branded vans to 140 campuses and bring expert career advice, giveaways and on-site access to jobs and internships. On top of getting the tools they need to prepare for the real world, students can take a digital picture with the famous chimps from CareerBuilder.com’s Super Bowl ads. The site launched Jan. 17.

The tour, which runs through May 1, will visit approximately 15 colleges and universities each week, appearing at campus career fairs and major sporting events. Students and alumni can get a personalized demonstration on how to use the site, network with career coaches and employers, and pick up a free copy of the company’s Ready, Aim, Hired CD, a guide to resume writing, interviewing and other job hunting must-knows.

In March and April, students may meet a human pork chop, sausage link or grown man dressed as a baby as the company’s wacky street team characters travel to different campuses to spread the word on finding a better job.

“The street team characters basically will be dressed up in outrageous costumes in heavy commuter areas and as they walk around, the message will be ‘if you think your job is as bad as mine, you should get another one’,” said Jennifer Sullivan, spokesperson at CareerBuilder.com.

The hiring landscape is looking positive for the class of 2006, said Rosemary Haefner, VP-human resources at CareerBuilder.com.

“Fifty-four percent of hiring managers say they plan to increase their headcounts in 2006, and one-in-three expect recent college graduates to comprise at least 25% of their new hires this year… By bringing job search information directly to campus, we can help students get a competitive edge on their job or internship searches in a fun, convenient way,” Haefner said in a statement.

Swivel Media, San Francisco, is handling the tour.
