Casual Male Retail Group, Inc., will increase its catalog and e-commerce business alongside its efforts to grow its existing stores’ productivity, according to the company. The Canton, MA-based big and tall men’s apparel marketer announced its plans in conjunction with its second quarter financial results. Casual Male had a $12.9 million net loss, largely due to an $11 million restructuring charge taken during the quarter. In second quarter 2001 the company had net income of $700,000. Casual Male’s second quarter revenue was $115.7 million, compared with $47.7 million in second quarter 2001. A year ago, however, the company ran 104 stores and was operating under the name Designs Inc. Casual Male currently operations 472 Casual Male Big & Tall Stores, along with 100 Levi’s Outlet by Designs and Dockers Outlet by Designs, 11 Candies Outlet stores and three Ecko Unlimited outlet stores. The quarter ended Aug. 3.
