Canadian Agreement Expected to Boost Video Ads

A three-way agreement between the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA), Association of Canadian Advertisers (ACA) and the Institute of Communications Agencies (ICA) is expected to create jobs and stimulate growth in Internet media across Canada.

The agreement allows advertisers to pay Canadian performers reduced rates for video advertising made for TV and radio, which is later distributed online, through podcasts and used for mobile marketing. It also set reduced rates for performers in video commercials specifically made for Internet media.

Paula Gignac, president of the Interactive Advertising Bureau of Canada, hailed the agreement as model for the rest of the world.
