Brito Takes Helm at InBev

Top beer marketer InBev has promoted Carlos Brito to CEO in a global leadership shift.

Brito, who had been zone president for North America, replaces John Brock, whose three-year contract has ended. Brito has worked for InBev divisions since 1989; he has been zone president since January 2005.

Stéfan Descheemaeker has been promoted to run InBev’s Western Europe operations, succeeding Stewart Gilliland, who has left the company.

InBev is seeking replacements for Brito and Descheemaeker.

Meanwhile, Peter Harf becomes chairman of InBev’s board of directors in May, when current chairman Pierre Jean Everaert finishes out his six-year term. Everaert will become Honorary Chairman.

Recent restructurings at InBev’s Leuven, Belgium headquarters and in France have cut about 350 jobs.

InBev’s 63 brands include Bass, Beck’s, Labatt and Rolling Rock.
