UNIVERSAL CITY, CA Dissatisfied with what she called a lack of support from above, Lori Sale left Universal Motion Picture Group in February after serving only one month as senior vp-promotion. Sale’s departure came just a few weeks after that of executive vp-marketing Karen Hermelin, who hired her. Hermelin left after six months.

“It’s one thing to say you want to turn things around,” as Universal execs did when she interviewed for the post, Sale told promo. “I don’t think this company is prepared to do that.”

Asked to comment, a Universal spokesperson said, “We couldn’t come to terms on an agreement for her to join the company.”

While a return to St. Louis-based Marketing Mix, the entertainment-focused agency she founded in 1986, is an option, “at this point, I’m thinking, ‘Why?’ Mix is doing great without me,” she says. “I’m going to chill awhile, and decide what I want to do next.”
