Blockbuster, DIRECTV Form Pact

Blockbuster Inc. has forged a joint marketing agreement with DIRECTTV Inc., the satellite television provider, owned by Hughes Electronics Corp., it has been reported.

Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly offer pay-per-view movies via the DIRECTV service, and Blockbuster will market DIRECTV’s systems and services in its 500-outlet retail store chain.

Blockbuster will get a cut of the pay-per-view revenues, as well as financial incentives to sell DIRECTV’s products and a percentage of subscription revenues from customers who sign up through Blockbuster.
