Blockbuster Inc. is dividing its business into three divisions: Blockbuster Worldwide Store Operations; Blockbuster Entertainment Technologies; and Blockbuster Business Solutions.
Blockbuster Entertainment Technologies will include Blockbuster.com, led by e-commerce president, Shellye Archambeau, and a new media group, led by Santo Politi.
The move is seen as another step by Viacom, Blockbuster’s parent company, to sell the video rental chain. Blockbuster.com, itself, may be spun off into an independent, publicly-traded company sometime next year.
