One week after McDonald’s announced a recall of 234,000 Happy Meal toys, rival Burger King took the same action after reports that they presented a potential choking hazard.
Miami-based Burger King ordered the recall of 400,000 “Rattling, Paddling Riverboats” that were distributed through Kids’ Meals in January and February. The products contain a metal pin that detached from the rest of the toy in at least 10 reported incidents. The giveaway was part of a new BK initiative to offer toys for toddlers.
Oak Brook, IL-based McDonald’s last week ordered a recall on a Fisher-Price “Scooter Bug” that had been distributed since late 2000 in U.S. and Canadian restaurants. Those toys also reportedly posed a choking hazard.
