Bezos to Speak at Catalog Conference

Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon.com, is the opening keynote speaker at the Annual Catalog Conference June 10-13. The conference is sponsored by the Direct Marketing Association, New York.

Bezos will speak on “Finding Profitable New Sales Channels Online.” Cynthia Fields, former president and CEO of Victoria’s Secret catalog, is another keynote speaker. Donn Rappaport, president of the American List Counsel, will moderate a panel of catalog industry leaders, including Michael Sherman, president of Fingerhut; Becky Jewett, president of Norm Thompson Outfitters; and Tim Litle, president of Litle and Co.

The catalog conference will be held at the McCormick Place in Chicago.

In other DMA news, the Pharmaceutical Marketing Conference is scheduled for April 9 and 10 in Philadelphia.

The conference will present an opportunity for the DMA’s first healthcare council, the Council for Interactive Healthcare, to prospect for members.

The council, a group sponsored by the Association for Interactive Marketing (AIM), an independent subsidiary of the DMA, was formed a year ago to address the needs of companies in the healthcare sector who are increasingly relying on direct marketing online.

The 12-member board of advisers now includes pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers; healthcare professionals; managed care companies; wholesalers and pharmacy chains; and healthcare service providers.
