Bethesda List Center Inc. (BLC) has picked up approximately 100 list management accounts formerly handled by Chessie Lists Inc.
“We’ve turned over our managed lists to Bethesda,” says Chessie’s president Barbara Gill. “We’ve pulled out of the list management business.”
Chessie Lists will continue to offer brokerage services for Carroll Publishing and many of the same clients that moved to Bethesda for management, adds Gill.
Client approvals to transfer nearly all the managed lists from Chessie were lined up in the last two months, says BLC president David S. James, who declined to comment on the terms of the management acquisitions.
The deal significantly expands BLC’s managed list portfolio of civil servants and elected government officials, as well as human resources and training professionals. BLC now represents more than 500 lists for more than 60 list owners, including numerous occupation files.
The decision to divest from list management follows Chessie’s April 2007 acquisition of DataMax Solutions Inc., which specializes in direct marketing services for professional associations, such as fulfillment, telemarketing and lettershop services.
Moving forward, the company will focus on offering marketing services in the association marketplace. “We’ll still use the Chessie name for list brokerage,” notes Gill.
