Best Buy has appointed Barry Judge to chief marketing officer, effective March 2.
In his new role, Judge, 45, will oversee all areas of marketing for the company, including brand management, customer research and development, trends, promotions, advertising, marketing communications and internal communications and public affairs.
The appointment comes as Best Buy reinstates in chief marketing officer title, which was eliminated in August 2006 when former marketing chief Mike Linton left the company. Judge then took over the company’s marketing duties, but without the executive title.
Judge joined Best Buy’s e-commerce team in November 1999, playing a key role in launching http://www.BestBuy.com. He’s also credited with improving the chain’s multi-channel consumer marketing and direct marketing efforts.
Prior to joining Best Buy, Judge held marketing and management posts at Young & Rubicam, Coca-Cola USA, The Quaker Oats Co., the Pillsbury Co. and the Caribou Coffee Co.
