Ben & Jerry’s Founders Arrested: A Stunt or Not?

Ben & Jerry’s tweeted out this week: “Our co-founders got arrested today on the US Capitol steps.” The arrest of two well-known brand founders hit the media circuit and gave Ben & Jerry’s plenty of free press on CNN.com and other media outlets.Ben & Jerry's founders

The planned event was a protest, “Democracy Awakening,” attended by thousands of people calling for voting rights protection among other issues. Ben & Jerry’s was on hand sampling its ice cream and used its social platforms and brand website to tell the story.

So, was this a stunt to get free press or a well-meaning political statement at an event the two had a passion for, or, perhaps, a bit of both? You make the call.
