Ben & Jerry’s, Apple Get Out the Vote

Ben & Jerry’s today broke a voter-registration campaign with Apple Computers and non-profit Rock the Vote targeting young adults.

The effort kicks off on Ben & Jerry’s 26th annual Free Cone Day in retail Scoop Shops, where consumers can register to vote. Select shops will have additional voter registration days through September.

Also, the first 50,000 U.S. customers to log on at www.benjerry.com and pledge to vote get a code redeemable for a free song at Apple’s iTunes Music Store. Participants are also automatically entered in a sweeps awarding a grand-prize package of an iPod, an iMac and a trip to Ben & Jerry’s Vermont headquarters to become an honorary “Flavor Guru” and make a batch of the winner’s personal flavor of ice cream. Registrants also can opt-in to get updates from Rock The Vote. Hawkeye FFWD, New York City, handles.

Scoop Shops in Canada, U.K., Spain, Germany, Korea, Hong Kong, Belgium, Ireland, The Netherlands, Israel and France also participate in Free Cone Day (where all visitors get a free cone) but, obviously, don’t have voter registration.
