Aspen Marketing Services has acquired Townsend Agency, a relationship marketing firm that specialized in interactive and database marketing. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Effective immediately, the Townsend Agency will lose its identity and be known as part of Aspen Marketing Services. Phil Walkenshaw, who founded the agency in 1979, will be retiring, according to Aspen spokesperson Elizabeth M. Cahill. David Ives, currently Townsend’s president, will take a to-be-determined role with either the senior or executive team, Cahill added.
According to Cahill, Aspen will not be opening or closing any locations as a result of the acquisition. Townsend is based near Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. Aspen Marketing is headquartered in West Chicago, and has offices in Los Angeles; New York; Atlanta; Detroit; Morristown, NJ; Tampa, FL; Dallas and Phoenix.
Townsend adds 45 staff members to Aspen’s 595 employees.
The Townsend acquisition is the latest by Aspen Marketing: In 2006, the company bought DVC Worldwide, and it acquired SRI Analytics in 2005.
