Arcandor Eyeing DM Mergers and Acquisitions

Arcandor AG, the German company formerly known as KarstadtQuelle, said it is looking at mergers and acquisitions to strengthen its direct marketing and retailing operations.

Last Spring, the company’s mail order unit posted a loss of 31.9 million euros ($42.5 million) last year after net income of 4 million euros ($5.3 million) in 2005, which excluded discontinued operations as well as the Neckermann.de online operation.
