America Online has launched a campaign to combat phishing, the practice of using fraudulent e-mail and fake Web sites to trick users into disclosing personal financial information.
The Internet giant has tapped online financial security firm Cyota Inc. to help identify and block access to suspected phishing sites at all times.
This effort supplements other AOL anti-phishing moves, including spam blocking, cooperation with law enforcement, education, and tools like AOL Money Alerts, AOL Passcode, and AOL Official Mail.
