Alltel Signs Extreme Makeover Star as Pitchman

Wireless services company Alltel has signed Extreme Makeover: Home Edition designer Ty Pennington to play a leading role in its consumer marketing programs over the next two years.

The first work breaks in May when the TV star, author and designer will be featured extensively in a promotion to drive increased usage of Alltel wireless data services offerings. Future marketing programs are under development.

“Alltel and Ty bring enthusiasm and a shared commitment to helping improve the lives of every day people,” said Frank O’Mara, Alltel executive VP-marketing, in a statement. “Ty will be an excellent ambassador for our consumer outreach initiatives.”

Alltel is a customer-focused communications company with more than 13 million customers and $8 billion in annual revenues. Alltel provides wireless, local telephone, long-distance, Internet and broadband services to residential and business customers in 27 states.
