Acxiom Creates Australian Company Via Joint Venture

Acxiom Corp., Little Rock, AR, and Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd. (PBL) of Sydney, Australia, have agreed to create a joint-venture company to serve large public and private sector organizations in Australia and New Zealand.

The new company, headquartered in Sydney, will operate under the name of Acxiom and will provide clients with customer relationship management technologies as well as database services, data content and information management, Acxiom said. The operation will be equally funded and owned by both companies. Additional terms of the venture were not released.

Andrew Robb, formerly the federal director of Australia’s Liberal Party, has been named to head the joint venture. The company is expected to officially begin business in September 1999.

PBL, with annual revenue of more than $1.1 billion (Australian), is one of the largest diversified communications companies in Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia. It operates a TV network, a magazine publishing company and an investment division. PBL will provide demographic and lifestyle data to the venture through its television, magazine, e-commerce and leisure interests.
