Acxiom purchased MarketsOnDemand, a Chicago database firm, on Nov. 26 for an undisclosed sum.
Little Rock, AR-based Acxiom acquired Toplander Corp., a holding company for two online business units, according to Acxiom spokesman Dale Ingram. JobsOnline, the other Toplander unit, was not included in the sale.
MarketsOnDemand will be absorbed into Acxiom’s products and solutions division. John Ripa, who coordinates Acxiom’s e-product solutions, will oversee the integration. The acquisition adds 19 employees, who will remain in their current locations, to Acxiom’s payroll.
Ingram did not comment on the status of specific Toplander executives. In first quarter 2002, Toplander cut its payroll by around a dozen employees, primarily from JobsOnline. The company did not disclose the number of employees left at the time.
MarketsOnDemand’s assets include a file of 54 million names with both postal and e-mail addresses, according to a MarketsOnDemand spokesperson.
