Xerox to Open Call Center in Texas

Xerox Corp., Rochester, NY, said it will open a “Tele-Web Center” in Irving, TX, in mid-June. The facility will add about 200 jobs in the Dallas area, growing to about 500 jobs within the next three years, the company said.

Using a blend of telephone and Web-based Internet technology, Xerox representatives at the center will do everything from selling Xerox products and services over the phone to offering customers real-time coaching on multimedia product demonstrations at the company’s Web site (http://www.xerox.com).

“Our $30 million investment in telebusiness will allow us to not only serve existing customers better, but help Xerox cover markets where we haven’t traditionally played,” Anne M. Mulcahy, president of general markets operations, said in a statement.

The flagship center in Irving is complemented by a telebusiness center in New Brunswick, Canada, which opened in April and employs more than 250. Xerox has other telebusiness centers in France, Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom to support local markets.
