WPP Group Acquires Young & Rubicam

WPP Group Plc, London, the world’s second-biggest advertising company, has agreed to buy Young & Rubicam Inc. for $5.5 billion in stock, according to Bloomberg.

Y&R would give WPP, owner of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide and J. Walter Thompson agencies, three of the world’s 11 biggest advertising operating companies.
